Holding a country's leader accountable for crimes committed in office is crucial to uphold the rule of law, maintaining public trust, and serving as a deterrent for future officeholders. Ensuring that no one is above the law sends a clear message that misconduct, abuse of power, and criminal behavior will not be tolerated, regardless of one's position. This reinforces democratic values, promotes transparency, and fosters a political culture where leaders prioritize their citizens' well-being and their office's integrity over personal gain or corrupt practices.
When Trump was elected, we covered his antics on InnerSelf as little as possible. Some estimate that the media handed Trump nearly $2 billion in media coverage that likely gave him the presidency. True to form, they still cover Trump's antics more than Biden's legitimate presidency. Trump is like the tiny brat he was as a child with his need to be the center of attention in all things.
In the following segment, Keith Olberman covers the indictment of Trump, looks back to 2016, with his piece discussing Trump's sanity using the Hare Psychopathy Checklist which is a diagnostic tool Dr. Robert D. Hare developed to assess the presence of psychopathy in individuals. The checklist is widely used in clinical, forensic, and research settings to identify psychopathic traits and tendencies. The test consists of 20 items that cover a range of personality traits and behaviors commonly associated with psychopathy. Use this link for more information on The Hare Psychopathy Checklist. And for more on psychopathy, in general.
Is this just the first indictment of Trump? Olberman makes a case that there are more to come.
They Finally Indict The Proverbial Ham Sandwich
Episode 166: Countdown With Keith Olbermann, March 31, 2023
Manhattan District Attorney's Office Confirms: Trump has been indicted. Improbably, Hannity sums it up best. And the breadth of reported counts (34?) suggests the range of charges could include really dangerous ones like tax crimes or lying to banks. In confirming he'll be brought in, Trump makes two outstanding bloopers. Sean Spicer has to announce it on Newsman. And maybe the most important consideration: life teaches us that in anything controversial, the toughest thing is to go first. Today it's twice as easy for Fani Willis or Jack Smith to indict him than it was yesterday afternoon.
Plus, Could Trump Pass A Sanity Test - An updated version of the 2016 Vanity Fair piece and video that forever linked me to the Oompa Loompa.
